Educational Frameworks

In my work as an ITC, I can draw upon these educational frameworks to guide my interactions with teachers, inform your coaching strategies, and facilitate technology integration efforts. By helping teachers understand and apply these frameworks, I can support them in leveraging technology effectively to enhance student engagement, promote deeper learning, and achieve educational goals.

  1. TPACK Framework (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge): TPACK emphasizes the intersection of technological knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and content knowledge. As an ITC, I can use the TPACK framework to guide teachers in integrating technology effectively by helping them understand how to align technology with pedagogical approaches and content objectives. I can support teachers in developing the skills and knowledge needed to leverage technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

  2. SAMR Model (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition): The SAMR model categorizes technology integration into four levels: substitution, augmentation, modification, and redefinition. As an ITC, I can use the SAMR model to help teachers move beyond simply using technology as a substitute for traditional instructional methods and encourage them to redesign learning experiences to leverage the transformative potential of technology. I can assist teachers in identifying opportunities to elevate learning tasks to higher levels of the SAMR model through creative use of technology tools and resources.

  3. RAT Model (Replacement, Amplification, Transformation): The RAT model is similar to the SAMR model but focuses specifically on evaluating the impact of technology on learning outcomes. As an ITC, I can use the RAT model to help teachers critically assess the effectiveness of technology integration by considering whether technology use merely replaces existing practices, amplifies learning opportunities, or transforms the learning experience in meaningful ways. I can guide teachers in selecting and implementing technology tools and strategies that align with the transformational goals of the RAT model.

  4. ISTE Standards (International Society for Technology in Education): The ISTE Standards provide a framework for leveraging technology to support learning, teaching, and leading in the digital age. As an ITC, I can use the ISTE Standards to guide professional development efforts, curriculum design, and technology integration initiatives. I can help teachers align their instructional practices with the ISTE Standards by providing training, resources, and support tailored to the specific skills and competencies outlined in the standards.

  5. Universal Design for Learning (UDL): UDL is a framework for designing flexible and inclusive learning environments that accommodate the diverse needs of all learners. As an ITC, I can use the UDL framework to help teachers integrate technology in ways that provide multiple means of representation, engagement, and expression. I can support teachers in selecting and implementing technology tools that support UDL principles and address the varied needs and preferences of their students.
